Daniel Harris at the London Cloth Company
Former costume designer Daniel Harris launched the London Cloth Company in November 2011. Starting with just two broken looms from the 1950s, he restored them to full working order with the help of Alan Bush, an 81 year old ex-factory engineer in Scotland. He now has a whole collection of mechanical looms in his Clapton workshop with more waiting in storage for larger premises.
He is now producing up to 60m of cloth a day for clients across London’s fashion scene and from as far away as Japan, and in 2012 he won the Textile Society’s Professional Development award.
